OMYA Inc.
The first occupants of our new Industrial Park. OMYA INC. will soon be
fully operational, and will process calcium carbonate.
Calcium carbonate mining and processing is not a new industry. In the case of OMYA Inc.,
their history dates back to 1884 in Oftringen, Switzerland. The Lucerne Valley,
California, mining operation was acquired in 1976, but the original operation was started
in 1958. In 2000, Superior, Arizona, is proud to see their new OMYA plant up and running.
OMYA is a producer and pioneer in the production of high quality calcium carbonate fillers
and extenders. Deposits of high purity calcium carbonate, which can be mined economically,
are not very common. Local availability of key natural resources helps to keep consumer
products and housing costs at reasonable prices.
At first, calcium carbonate had limited uses because many of today's products did not
exist. High purity calcium carbonate has made an extraordinary contribution to the
development of thousands of new products we see and use in our daily lives.
OMYA's calcium carbonate is a natural product, which is crushed and milled into various
particle sizes depending upon, needs.
